Aero Club of New England is established.

The first aeronautical club in the U.S., its first president is A. Lawrence Rotch. The organization soon purchases two balloons, the Boston (35,600 cu. ft.) and the Massachusetts (65,000 cu. ft.), but by 1910 members’ interest shifts to airplanes.
